Where are the Instructions?

It happens regularly…you get something to put together and you think you can do it just with the pieces in front of you. You realized you missed a step.

I went 400 miles away from home to pick up a car. I got into the car to drive home. I noticed the side mirror was not right. I tried to find the control.  I pulled over to the side of the road. I looked again. I don’t see it!

Instru:BkI looked in the glove compartment and found the manual. It is two inches thick, and I need to get on the road. I rolled down the window and pressured the mirror with my hand. That works fine. I hope I did not mess something up.

When I got 30 miles from home, I stopped at a daughter’s house. She came out to look at the car, and I mentioned about the window. She reaches over behind the steering column and points to a spot by the door. “That’s your mirror control!”   I better get reading.

I have a Bible (one inch) on top of the car manual. Obviously, the print in the car manual is done with pictures…but you get the idea. All the manuals and instructions, have a great impact and save time.

The Bible—Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth – unknown

We all can use guidance to navigate life’s situations.

“Your Word is a lamp to my feet, and a light to my path.”  Psalm 119:105  There are instructions as to how to live and be guided by principles that we may consider to be better than “trial-and-error!” More error than trial…for me! “Let me try that again!”

The Bible gives instructions: it corrects us when we are wrong, or we are not sure. It teaches us how to live in a correct or “right way.”  It equips us for life. II Timothy 3:16-17

If I could give advise you: The Bible gives free advice! Let the Bible be your guide!

John 14:6

“Then comes the end…” I Corinthians 15:24  All good things come to an end!

2007-01-01 12.00.00-270

Another year is just about finished…less than 12 hours, in my time zone. We celebrate in many different ways, but the most common way is to stay at home for 80% of Americans.  Maybe a home party or a neighborhood gathering, or just family.

Yesterday, a 7 year-old girl was shot and killed in a car driving  out of a parking lot by a man in a pickup truck.  “Didn’t see that coming?” One might ask what a seven year-old could possible do to initiate that kind of response from a person? She was leaving in a car, after shopping with her family.

THEN COMES THE END…!   Have you given thought to how long you have to live? Have you thought about making every day count for the most good? How important is your life or the lives around you?

It could be on the freeway. It could be while you are sitting on the couch in your home. It could be at your workplace. It can happen in the next 30 minutes. Someone acting out in an aggressive way, chooses you as a target.

Jesus says, “I am the WAY…” no one comes to heaven unless they come through what I have done on the Cross of Calvary.    “I AM THE WAY!”

We may not be able to protect against other people while on our journey, but we can know how we will live eternally.  Slipping into oblivion is not what we planned! Knowing THE WAY will guarantee a secure forever! Insure yourself against the future by investing your life in HIM who says, ‘I AM THE WAY!”

Pray a simple prayer:  Father in Heaven, give me peace of mind about my future journey. Help me to believe in Jesus Christ, who died on the cross for my sin. Teach me how to follow and obey His words and His life.   In the Name of Jesus, I pray, Amen!

It makes more sense, when I understand it!

The Way Forward!

Unfortunate death of Anthony B. this weekend. Imagine at 61, your whole life comes to a end. You have absolutely nothing to look forward to.Don’t you want to call someone tomorrow? Is there something else you want to do that you have put off doing?

One more concert, one more project, something else to achieve?

Will you say at the end of your life, “It is finished!” (Jn 19:30) Did you know what was expected of you in this life? “Did yer get ‘er done?”

10541952_10203505689180975_3890423574900346926_nThere is a lack of purpose in our lives today. It is all meaningless. Day in, day out!

                     “Your eyes saw my unformed substance;
in your book were written, every one of them,
the days that were formed for me,
when as yet there was none of them.”   -Ps. 139:16

God wrote in a book about us. Every day of our life is explained in this book.  Are you interested in knowing what’s in the book? Do you want to read this and find out what your purpose is on earth?

Ps. 138:8 says, “The Lord will fulfill His purpose for me;…” I need to go to the print shop. I have a purpose for the trip, and I will accomplish that today.

It is so easy when you know what your purpose is and how it can be accomplished.

Love More Than These?

Fish over Fire

Fish over an open fire…delicious! Jesus is sitting on the beach: “Come and have breakfast.” (Jn. 21:12-ESV)  Looks mighty good.

Jesus engages Simon Peter in a personal word. “Simon, son of John, do you love me more than these?” (Jn. 21:15-ESV)

Is it obvious who or what Jesus is referring to by “these?” “Do you love me more than the other disciples?”  Or “Do you love me more than these…fish?” Ha! The humor of God may be over-the-top. We may miss the depth of His question.

Fish were created to do what? Do fish complain? Do they worry about tomorrow? Do they grumble about their predicaments? Do they disobey what God purposed for them?

Fish do exactly what God purposed them to do and fully engaged. They depend upon God for all provisions. All animals in creation do what they are purposed to do.

Man is the only purposed creation of God who was given a will. He can rebel against God, ruling forces (government, jobs, etc.), mates and partners, and children against parents. We do as we want.

Peter do you love me like these fish? Do you do exactly what I purposed for you to do in life? The way to an abundant life is to know what we are created to do. Do you love Me more than these? And the fish said, “Amen!”

On My Father’s Business,

Got Fish!

Famous words: “Got Fish!” (John 21:5) When fishing, do you come home empty-handed?

The disciples were out all night fishing and had empty nets.  Nothing to show for the effort.  Our whole system demands results that are observable. Many live under the constant stress of performance. We try so hard and yet we are wrong.

To fish with net Jesus tells the disciples they are doing it all wrong. Don’t fish on the wrong side of the boat. Fish on the right side of the boat.

If you want to be right, then do it right!  The fish are five feet on the other side. How is that possible? We have done it this way all the time. They found out they were inadequate.

The way to success is knowing where you are and who is able to help you get results.
