In the Midwest this week, we have been hearing about this gigantic snow storm, leaving as much as 10-16″ of snow dumped on is.  The weather people have been on this for a week, and one even said, “I think “there is an 80% chance of 6″ or more by Friday.”

It is noon on Friday, and not a snowflake on the ground. Last night we got what might be considered “an inadequate trace” but we are without, this morning. How wrong could those people be?

I laugh, because they are not fortune-tellers, they are simply people “doing their job.” But as they do their jobs with all the equipment, and insights they have and others around them, they basically come up short, many times in a week, month or year.

Would you keep your job if you were only accurate 30-50% of the time?  Would you be allowed to occupy a job where you probably will be wrong more times than you are right? And yet…today, those people will show up for work, smiles on their faces, and do what they do best all over again.

I think we all need to consider the internal fortitude of these people.  You might say, they are “gluttons for punishment.” How accurate do you have to be, in order to secure a job as a weather-forecaster? Would you be able to do the job, and as wrong as you might be, get up the next day and go back to work, as if you are the “best of the best?”

“…men will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, revilers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy, unloving, irreconcilable, malicious gossips, without self-control, brutal, haters of good, treacherous, reckless, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God; holding to a form of godliness, although they have denied its power…” NASB translation of the Bible written 2,000 years ago.

Does that should like the world you live in? Are people like that? Well, to me, it seems like this particular writer was rather accurate. Yet, we don’t believe it, or embrace it as truth.  This is absolutely what the world looks like. Is this the problem of a lot of religious people we know?

This was written to help us understand how man has become so callous to those around, and how he/she acts out in their Journey, but the writer goes on to tell us, that we need to live out our lives THE WAY in which “we learned and grew up understanding.” That from your childhood, you were not taught to be like those people, but rather you were taught differently, from the Word of God and from your parents.

This book, The Bible, has a place in our lives, to help guide us and instruct us. It has a purpose for me in order to understand truth, so that on MY Journey, I will “know the truth and it will set me free.”
